Hi all – wanted to share some progress with you regarding the restoration of the lookout. As you remember, a new radio vault was purchased and installed north of the lookout earlier this summer. All the radio equipment that was in the lower level of the lookout has been moved to the new vault. This allows the removal of the solar panel as well as the lower walls/siding so that the lookout can be restored to its 1923 style. The first attached photo shows the removal of the lower siding by Element 26 and Wagner Construction. The second photo shows Brian Wagner drilling to prep the site for the concrete work. In addition, the toilet has been pumped and a new liner installed in the toilet vault. The supplies and equipment have been purchased including the furnishings for the inside of the lookout. The Nevada and Placer Resource Advisory Committee provided an additional $3,000 for construction supplies. A volunteer work day has yet to be scheduled – more information coming. Thanks again for your interest in Grouse Ridge Lookout!
